Notice
A call for applications is now open for the award of 1 (one) Research Fellowship (BI) for holders of a Master’s degree within the scope of the project “RIGHTResponse: citizens’ responses to the radical populist right in liberal democratic societies” (Ref. 2024.13916.PEX, PeX 2024 – EXPLORATORY PROJECTS IN ALL SCIENTIFIC FIELDS 2024) currently underway at CPUP, funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The RIGHTResponse project (2026–2027) analyses how citizens react to the anti-immigration and exclusionary rhetoric promoted by leaders and parties of the radical right, and what the consequences of these responses are for social polarisation, intergroup relations and the cohesion of democratic societies. Using a mixed-methods approach, the project will map different patterns of citizen reaction, identify the psychosocial factors that explain them, and examine their effects on social norms and democratic resilience.
